Esther Baker had been a Buddhist for over thirteen years. Her search for truth drove her up through the ranks of a Buddhist nun and deeper into a life of meditation and detachment from the world. But then, one day, alone in her room, the perfect shadow of a cross fell on her wall, and, unbidden, Christ began to enter her life. Would anything ever be the same again?

I Once Was a Buddhist NunDiane Morrison, via The Good Book Stall
This is an interesting insight into Buddhism and what makes it attractive to spiritual seekers, is that it is an uplifting and reassuring reminder of how Jesus can find and rescue us, wherever we may be and however far we may have separated ourselves from Him. Hostile to Christianity, Esther looked for the 'truth' everywhere but in God, and was drawn in by the intellectual tricks of Buddhism, only to see the 'mountain' of her faith collapse into dust at the touch of Christ. Working now as a missionary in Thailand, she uses her knowledge to help free others from Buddhism and tell them about Jesus. Her awe, love and gratitude at how He never gave up on her and pursued her throughout her rebellion and idolatry makes this an inspiring and affirming read.

'I highly recommend this book to all seekers of the truth and all who long to see if Jesus is real today.'
'Sometimes the best guides to discovering Jesus Christ are those who can articulate the darkness they have walked in and their revelation of the true light. Esther Baker is one such guide.'
From the foreword by Andrew Comiskey
'A simple and genuine story.'
'Esther's story is a beautiful one, an accounting of Christ's shepherding hand, as she is led out from under a deeply blinding idolatry and into his eternal life-giving light and tender love.'
