New Living Translation Bibles (NLT)

First edited in 1996 the New Living Translation Bible is a translation of the bible into a clear, readable form of modern English, its original purpose was to revise the living bible. The New Living Translation is also an extensive version of the living bible (1971) which first started as the purpose to correct parts however once completed the NLT is an entirely new version. Robert Bergen was asked to serve as the translator for the NLT due to his studies and dissertation of Hebrew Discourse Linguistics

The NLT is an enjoyable and created for the modern day reader, accomplished by translating entire thoughts into everyday English producing a translation of the Hebrew and Greek text that is easy to read and understand in Christianity.  This is achieved by showing perspectives an quotations of the original Hebrew scripture of Judaism and Christianity on various pages with a space for reflection on its meaning, ideal for study and to gather different views. One of the versions of the NLT Mosaic was designed to show the meaning in a modern, exciting way. Throughout this version there are Mosaic images with the purpose” to see that the body of Christ is much bigger than the small piece we each experience in our everyday lives”  (New Living Translation, 2^nd edition 2007) showing that the NLT delivers a message that is not just about the individual parts of Christianity it’s about the whole picture.

Did you know that the sentence structure of the NLT and the original bible is different?

Well interestingly, the Greek text uses 4 sentences in a paragraph but in contemporary English we begin a new sentence with every new idea, so the NLT uses more sentences in a paragraph.
