Lovely Bible for simple stories - Alice, mummy to lots of little boys, in Surrey
We had the Toddler version of this Bible when we only had children aged 2 and under, and they enjoyed it so this seemed like the obvious next step when those stories started to seem a bit simple (after age 3). This storybook Bible is a good one - I did a bit of research and read reviews online for various different First Bibles, and this is the one I chose. I like the illustrations being so bright and cheerful and eye-catching for little ones. The stories have a little more weight to them than the toddler version, and my 3-year-old was eager to read them with me every day. But, he's only 4 now and already for a while I have been feeling like I want something a little more for him. Something a bit more than simple stories. He asks so many questions and seems eager to know more about the depth of the stories in the Bible, and this Bible doesn't really provide that at all. I think it's a lovely story Bible for little ones, just to read simple stories (as they all are really), but we have just bought The Jesus Storybook Bible for our 4-year-old, and it's in another league to this one! Much more depth and feeling, and it's faith-stirring and faith-building too. I still give this one four stars because it's a really lovely First Bible for simple storytelling, for 2-4 year olds, in my experience. My 3-year-old listens with great interest to the stories in this Bible but doesn't take in much of the Jesus Storybook Bible stories yet.
