GalatiansAlan Hill, via The Good Book Stall
In the letter to the Galatians the apostle Paul deals with the relationship between the believer and the Old Testament ceremonial law. Paul emphasises that at the heart of the Gospel is justification by faith apart from works. Paul’s passion for free grace bursts out of the page. Pastor David McWilliams’ admirable commentary harnesses that vitality and lets it shine through in his book.
Writing for the serious Bible student and preacher, he provides his own vibrant translation and a verse by verse commentary. He addresses issues of interpretation with reasoned argument adding numerous quotes from other writers.
The best characteristics of this book are its brevity and its clarity. Pastor McWilliams writes in a succinct, lively style. He has the gift of making profound statements in a few words. Preachers may have to look elsewhere for ideas for illustrations and applications, but they need look no further for a faithful interpretation of the text.
