      Product Description

The Triumph of Death is a novel written by Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1896. The story is set in the 16th century and follows the life of a young Italian nobleman named Andrea Sperelli. Andrea is a passionate and impulsive man who is obsessed with beauty and art. He becomes involved with three different women throughout the course of the novel, all of whom are his muses and inspire his artistic creations. The first woman is Elena Muti, a married woman with whom Andrea has a tumultuous affair. The second is Maria Ferres, a wealthy widow who becomes his patron and supports his artistic endeavors. The third is the young and innocent Bianca Tamanti, whom Andrea marries but ultimately betrays. As Andrea's relationships with these women become increasingly complex and destructive, he becomes consumed by his own desires and loses sight of his artistic vision. The novel explores themes of love, passion, art, and mortality, and ultimately ends with Andrea's downfall and death.D'Annunzio's writing style is known for its vivid descriptions of sensory experiences and its focus on the decadent and sensual aspects of life. The Triumph of Death is considered one of his most important works and is a classic example of Italian decadent literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
