Yogacharya Oliver was a successful Detroit businessman and inventor who knew and worked with the famous people of his day, including architect Frank Lloyd Wright and millionaire/inventor Howard Hughes. At one time, Black was the largest private landowner in the state of Michigan. After meeting with and studying under Yogananda, he began his own classes, which he held at the Detroit Institute of Arts and which attracted students nationwide.
