    Obadiah : A Practical Commentary

For a book of 128 pages this commentary works well on a number of levels. Firstly it is a well researched commentary of Obadiah. David Field sets the book in its context both physically, with a helpful map on page 3, and historically, as well as offering insight into the theological significance of the message. By including a series of study questions at the end of each chapter Field has also created an excellent study resource for small groups or the individual. Furthermore, by providing a Christological hermeneutic in addition to the standard commentary Field has provided a valuable resource for preachers. Finally Field’s bibliography provides a sound basis for further research. In conclusion this easily accessible book on a lesser known Old Testament prophet comes highly recommended.
