Typology: The New Testament According to the Old Testament Prophets

    Today's Price £11.67

    Product Description

Typology is the style of communication that was used by the Old Testament prophets to relate information about things that would exist in the future but didn't exist at the time they composed their writings. There are many things that exist in the New Testament era that didn't exist when the Old Testament was written by the prophets. For example, concepts such as baptism, resurrection, the fruits of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues did not become realities until after Jesus began his ministry. Furthermore, several locations integral to the gospel didn't exist during the time of the Old Testament prophets such as the house of the Last Supper, the garden of Gethsemane, and the garden tomb. Also, the people who played important roles in the ministry of Jesus such as the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, the twelve apostles, and Mary Magdalene obviously weren't even born during the Old Testament era. At the time of Moses, the list becomes even greater since there were no Jewish kings, the temple hadn't been built, there was no such thing as a Roman, and crucifixion didn't exist. The Old Testament prophets used a structured form of symbolic communication commonly referred to as typology to represent things that didn't exist during their lifetimes, but would exist in the New Testament era.
