Tim Hughes Ultimate Collection - milestone not journey's end
Tim’s profile as a gifted musician and worship leader came to public prominence when he was appointed Director of Worship at Soul Survivor. Tim went on to London’s Holy Trinity Brompton – home of the Alpha Course, where he established the music ministry of Worship Central. Believing in the importance of professional worship leaders in training and equipping local church leaders, Tim initiated a free to use course for training young worship leaders, accessed by over 600 groups from 49 different countries in just a few years.
Connection is the defining feature of Tim’s worship songs. Somehow he joins the words to the music, the music to worshippers and the worshippers to their expression and experience of God. The expression and experience seems to be universal, as his songs have the proven ability to cross denomination and doctrinal boundaries – like true worship is supposed to do. Songs such as "Here I Am in to Worship", "Happy Day" and "Beautiful One" are known to more Christian worshippers than know who Tim Hughes is. But then, few Christians of earlier generations can name the authors of “Abide With Me”, “All Things Bright And Beautiful”, “Dear Lord And Father Of Mankind”, or know who wrote the tunes.
Doubtless, Tim’s UK origins work in his favour and consciously or not, his words and melodies are familiar and comfortable on the voices, ears and beliefs of English speakers on this side of the Atlantic. This collection – “The Tim Hughes Ultimate Collection” brings together 16 of his better known songs from all his studio albums of the last 10 years: from his 2001 "Here I Am to Worship" to latest from the album "Love Shine Through." For the avid fan this is fine retrospective, and the casual fan, it’s an excellent introduction to one of Christian music’s most consistent, quality singer/songwriters. - Les Ellison
Working with Worship Central at London’s influential Holy Trinity Brompton, Tim Hughes recently released his fourth full-length solo album 'Love Shine Through'. Now the forward looking musician takes time to recollect his origins with his first retrospective compilation album: ‘Tim Hughes Ultimate Collection’.
Over the years Tim's albums have got better in production, sounding bigger and bolder, but what you can't get away from is that the majority of songs on this album are absolute classics. Tracks like 'God of Justice' still impact on worshippers in the same way they did when they first hit the worship music scene. That’s why Tim Hughes’ songs will be sung and loved for years to come - not because Tim wrote great catchy tunes, but because the lyrics of each song carry worshippers’ urgent desire to get close to God.
This 16 track (15 + the bonus “When The Tears All) is a compilation that celebrates a remarkable journey from Tim’s early days at Soul Survivor through to his arrival at Holy Trinity Brompton to the incredible rise of Worship Central. Drawing from each of his four classic albums - "Here I Am To Worship," "When Silence Falls," "Holding Nothing Back," and his 2012 release "Love Shine Through” - this album contains all the epics: "Here I Am To Worship", "Beautiful One", "Happy Day" and "Counting On Your Name" - along with other enduring favourites like "Everything", "Whole World In His Hands", "Jesus Saves" and "God Of Justice".
In this ultimate collection album, Tim brings together not only his greatest successes in music and song, but some of the greatest and most influential names in worship music creation, production and recording:
