Pilgrim's Progress

Full Product Description

This is not a devotional classic; it is a dangerous tale.

One of the most widely read books of all time, this adventure reveals John Bunyan's intense grasp of the Scriptures. Penned while in prison for refusing to compromise the gospel, The Pilgrim's Progress is a guide for the journey from death to life. The times have changed, but the landmarks and adversaries are very much the same.

The Pilgrim's Progress is a call to the high stakes of every Christian's journey. Don't pick it up expecting quaint amusement; it is a story of the undeniable truth, great cost, and overwhelming joy of the gospel.

Note on the Moody Classics series:
Many factors influence our spiritual growth and development, and Christian classics play a key role. Learning from those who have walked the path and fought the fight brings wisdom and strengthens resolve. And hearing the familiar chords of kingdom living sung by voices from other times can penetrate cultural barriers that limit our allegiance to the King. To this end, Moody Publishers is honored to build an ongoing series of spiritual classics. Selected for their enduring influence and timeless perspective, these new editions promise to shape the lives of spiritual pilgrims for generations to come.

Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan was published by Moody Publishers in October 2007 and is our 6380th best seller. The ISBN for Pilgrim's Progress is 9780802456540.

Product Q&A

Got a question? No problem! Just click here to ask us about Pilgrim's Progress.

Is this the original, non-abridged edition? If not, please give details of one that is.

A:Thanks for your question about this edition of John Bunyan's The Pilgrim Progress. The edition on this page - like practically every other readily available and readable edition, is slightly edited from the original. This is necessary to make the archaic words and sometimes difficult sentence structure of seventeenth century English readable to a modern audience. The good news is that these editions are the work of notable literary scholars, who know and love their subjects, and so can be trusted to be faithful to John Bunyan's original text, intention and experience. This is the Moody Classics edition. There is a PDF on the webpage for a 'look inside' at how the archaic expressions are explained as side notes. If you want an edition described as unabridged (but still slightly edited) with original drawings, the take a look at the Deluxe Illustrated Edition: http://www.eden.co.uk/shop/pilgrims-progress-2585488.html If you really want to take on Bunyan's masterpiece in its 'original' text - though even this has had to be revised for accuracy and readability over the near four and a half centuries since he put pen to paper, then contact bunyanministies.org. Yours, .
