‘BREAK EVERY CHAIN’

Young Leaders: Soul Survivor's 20s Generation
Posted: Thursday, November 15th
“Speaking as someone who attended Momentum this summer, I can guarantee that your expectations (based on previous live albums) will be more than met. Rend Collective in particular were an absolute joy to worship with - their quirky folk sound offset the other, more rock-orientated songs.” – Pete Harrison, Eden Reviewer and Soul Survivor fan.
If you were there, Soul Survivor Live 2012 – Kingdom Come is the way to relive this year’s glories. If you weren’t, it’s the best way to have and keep what you missed.
This year the annual music, arts, worship and teaching event for Britain's Christian youth staked out its sacred territory over three weeks between 27 July and 16 August 2012. For 21 God filled days, Stafford Showground, Stafford (27-31 July) and Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset (7-11, 12-16 August) became Holy Ground for total of 30,000 young worshippers in their teens and twenties. Each five day event gathered thousands of young music fans to seek God, praise Him, listen to His word and pray for each other.
The main focus of the events were morning and evening meetings where quality time was spent worshipping God with music, learning more about God through the Bible and waiting on the Holy Spirit. Like at any Souls Survivor event, the wait is never in vain nor is the time spent fruitless. Lives are changed, minds equipped and souls set on fire. Main meetings of the day are followed with teaching seminars and conferences at venues around the site and never far from cafes for reliving experiences, talking things through or just hanging out.
Soul Survivor is all about getting yourself together to follow Jesus more closely. Everything is aimed at young people who know Christ – to some degree. Anyone who even knows the name of Jesus, and might be a bit interested to know more, comes away from Soul Survivor closer to him than when they arrived. It’s really all about time – time spent seeking God – whether it’s in the main meetings, fringe events, concerts, seminars or just chilling with old and new friends.
In no way is attendance at anything on site compulsory – and there’s loads of other stuff to do, see and hear. And you don’t have to be a Christian to go the annual festival, or be part of any particular denomination.
If you were there, then you’re probably thinking it was the best £104 spent this year, and ‘Kingdom Come’ will keep those memories beating. If you weren’t - maybe because you didn’t have the cash to spare, then ‘Kingdom Come’ - the double CD, is your best value way to catch what you missed and be a part of the whole year’s Soul Survivor experience. – Les Ellison.
For 2012, Soul Survivor carries the same title as the project driven by two of the UK’s most engaged church based organisations working to bring in God’s Kingdom on Earth in these times and for this generation.
During the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics year, 24-7 Prayer and Alpha are in partnership, jointly inviting churches to fill an entire year with continuous, night and day prayer. Says Nicky Gumble, of Holy Trinity Brompton and The Alpha Course: ‘Kingdom Come is an exciting partnership between 24-7 Prayer and Alpha to mobilise prayer across the UK and Ireland throughout 2012.”
Believing that prayer is the power behind the Church’s vision to re-evangelise the nation and transform society, ‘Kingdom Come’ encourages a range of initiatives and activates adaptable to local needs and circumstances. These include:
Prayer Rooms: As part of the ‘Kingdom Come, 2012’ year of prayer, 24-7 Prayer and Alpha in the UK and Ireland are urging an unprecedented number of churches and groups to sign-up and register their prayer activities. Many of these will host a prayer room – some for just 24 hours or for a weekend, some for whole weeks or even longer in order to fill the whole of 2012 with layers and layers of non-stop prayer across the UK.
Prayer Meetings: The first Christians knew that exciting things happened when people met to pray. Jesus told them that if they continued to meet together in his name he would continue to be with them. Generally speaking, prayer meetings can be hosted according to the models and styles that people are used to and most comfortable with, though a little experimentation is encouraged in order to discover new things about God and about ourselves.
Prayer Walks: As part of the ‘Kingdom Come, 2012’ year of prayer, Christians across the UK and Ireland are encouraged to pray for the local communities where they live, work and go to school. Suggestions to help involve your community in expressions of faith include forming community circles to pray regularly and visibly for your neighbourhood through prayer walking.
Prayer Staking and Revival Running: A ‘Revival Run’ involves going somewhere beyond your church, your street, your local community and praying your biggest, most audacious, faith-filled prayer for that place, church, street or community. It involves planting a ‘prayer stake’ as a symbol of your desire for God to plant something deep and long-lasting in that place.
