Transforming Power Of Prayer
Full Product Description
Where better than in the sphere of religion can the devil promote a programme of illusion and self-deception. We need to pray at every turn in the road for the spirit of discernment, if we are to distinguish between illusion and reality. We have to shake off this illusion if we are to expose ourselves to the bright beams of reality, truth and love.

The Transforming Power of PrayerCarole Burrows, via The Good Book Stall
Lent is seen as a time of self-examination, discipline and preparation for the glorious message of Easter, but, as has often been said, we are an Easter people, and so the soul searching and improvement of Lent should be a year long discipline. Michael Marshall's book therefore seems to me to be not just for Lent, but for any time, as it seeks to enable the individual to enter into that friendship with God, moving from the illusion of what that means to the reality. In the 21st century, much is written and discussed about lifestyle change, and how to obtain true happiness, and this book is a “Christian lifestyle” guide to change, which could give a good structure to anyone of faith or none as to how to achieve this. It explores the seeking for identity, analysis of this when found, relationship with family and community while remaining a unique person who can change and become new. Explore the right options for you, and enter that deeper relationship with God by not just reading the Bible and saying prayers, but by living the prayer, meditating on the Scriptures, and making this part of the new you. It may be just me, but my favourite quote from the book is 'The epitaph on the tomb of our western civilization might read : “Everything to live with and nothing to live for”'. How true this can be!
