The book starts with a personal note from Bill Merrington; he has written this book from real-life experience having lost his mother, father and gran.

Each of the eight short chapters starts with a part of young Bill followed by a Reflections section and ending with questions to think about. The end of the book also features a Reflections on Murder section and a Reflections on Suicide section.
