The Sons of Jude
Full Product Description
"It was the first day back since the shooting, and everything looked the same. Gun-metal-gray desks stood nose to nose, the walls were still covered in the nauseating beige, and the sound of hushed conversations filled the room, punctuated only by the occasional ring of a phone or the squeak of a chair. Everything was the same - except for Rand's riderless desk".
Detective Frank Campello is dealing with the death of his partner when his police chief lumbers him with a police officer who plays by the books with a reputation for whistle blowing. Together they must find a rouge killer rooming the streets of Chicago.
A thriller that reads like a Ed McBain, Steven James, or Joseph Wambaugh book. Prepare to dive deep into the minds of two polar opposites and how the react to ethically difficult situations.
Brandt Dodson comes from a long line of police officers dating back more than seventy years on both sides of the family. In addition, he was employed with the Indianapolis office of the FBI. He lived in Chicago and travel to the city every year.

The Sons of JudeJohn Thomas, via The Good Book Stall
St Jude, apparently, is the patron saint of policemen, in addition to Lost Causes, and this racy novel ‘with an ethical twist’ is set in contemporary Chicago, in the Police Department, the world of organised crime and City Hall politics, newspaper offices, the striptease industry, and illegal immigration. The ethical twist concerns the place of Christian principles in a corrupt and corrupting environment, as well as the endurance of human values in corrosive situations. The book has plenty of action and surprises, and once you’re used to the language, it is easy to read.
