The Difference

Samuel Lane is a rarity.Having grown up in the Vineyard church, he has poured his life into crafting songs that draw people to God. For twenty years he has continued to work and refine his songwriting, exploring musicality and faith in worship. His songwriting paired with his heart to lead the Church in the worship of God, fuse perfectly to create beautiful, artistic, simple songs. Known for his uncompromising honesty, his songs have an ache and an authenticity that draws you in and hurls you towards the Creator.

Lane has written and recorded 40 songs with Vineyard Worship including ʻBeautifulʼ the title track of the 2002 genre-defining Vineyard album Beautiful which was also covered by Jesus Culture for their 2008 record Your Love Never Fails.

In 2013 he released The Fire; the first time Vineyard UK had trusted someone with a solo worship album. Christianity Magazine called it, ʻincredible, there hasn't been an album that has captured my attention in such a way for a long timeʼ. Recorded with Emmy award-winning producer Bobby Hartry in LA with an amazing array of guest musicians including Samuelʼs sister and brother-in-law Jessie and Darren Clarke (writers of ʻI Love Your Presenceʼ), The Fire is a pure collision of passion, hope and honesty.

Five years on, we meet The Difference. The story is one of looking to Jesus. When we fall short, he offers His hand. When we are weak, He is our strength. When we fail, He is the difference.

Lane works for the Vineyard Church in St.Albans as worship pastor and occasionally takes to the road with his band to lead worship at events like Davidʼs Tent, Big Church Day Out and of course Vineyard national conferences. He's married to Sarah and they were recently joined by an amazing little man called Sunny! Samuel is fiercely passionate about the presence of God and drawing us ever closer to a real and genuine relationship with our maker.
