A Tale of Two SonsMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
‘Using accurate and captivating historical context, John MacArthur invites you to hear the parable of the prodigal son as it was originally intended.’ This statement is taken from the back cover of the book and describes exactly what is within.
We forget that people at the time of Christ had knowledge that later generations have lost, and that their understanding of a story could be quite different from a modern interpretation. I found this book intriguing. I have heard many sermons preached on the subject of this parable but never before such a concentration on the elder brother. The author draws out some points in the story that have always been there, just not brought to my notice before. Here is teaching to read, learn, and heed.
