Spiritual Care Of Dying And Bereaved People
Full Product Description
An updated and expanded edition of a classic book, Spiritual Care of Dying and Bereaved People is a fresh, original, and honest look at death and bereavement, including the author's personal experiences. Most of us don't realize how much we have to offer to those who are dying or bereaved. This book encourages readers to grow in confidence as companions, looking honestly at the questions people ask, and offering a reflection on the kind of God those questions reveal. This new edition also includes a practical section on how to plan a funeral.
Spiritual Care Of Dying And Bereaved People by Penelope Wilcock was published by Bible Reading Fellowship in February 2013 and is our 21405th best seller. The ISBN for Spiritual Care Of Dying And Bereaved People is 9780857461155.

Spiritual Care of Dying and Bereaved PeopleMelanie Carroll, via The Good Book Stall
Though not a new book, in some ways it does feel so, as it has been completely updated and expanded, losing the section on Aids, but growing to include a new indepth section on funerals that offers very practical help. It also now includes new personal insights from Penelope's own life.
This book, as its predecessor did, has a gentle air of quiet sympathy and consideration to it that sometimes can be missing in books aimed at 'pastoral' ministry, but then in part that's because this book isn't just a guide for ministers and practitioners. This book is also for those journeying through these intense and painful experiences themselves. It is not just written by someone more than eminently qualified from years in service working with the dying and bereaved but is written by a person who has gone through the experience personally, intensely and is not afraid to share that, but rather wants to. This book is real 'spiritual care' for both those on the journey of death and for those looking to work pastorally with them. An excellent book on a deeply painful subject that I think it would be exceptionally hard to better.
