Full Product Description
could he trust that glimmer of hope quietly beckoning to him?
Ben Buckley has never gotten over the loss of his wife. More bewildering than the mystery surrounding her death is the radical change that occurred in her shortly beforehand--a "conversion," she had called it. Baffled, angry, and still feeling guilty for the way he'd withdrawn from her during those final weeks, Ben now lives behind the protective walls of severed relationships and rigid routines.
An unlikely young woman knocks on the door of his narrow world. Her simple honesty and childlike faith are incomprehensible to him, but in spite of his misgivings Ben finds himself on a journey he never would have begun on his own.
"Christy Award–winning evangelical Christian author Turner offers fans a bittersweet introspective tale of a widower's internal journey through grief." Publishers Weekly

Sometimes A Light SurprisesMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
After his wife’s murder, Ben withdraws from his family and friends and concentrates on his business becoming a wealthy man. His mother had moved in and taken over the upbringing of his four children, which had given him the chance to opt out. The result was a broken family and a withdrawn man, living in a rigid routine with a compulsive interest in the trivia of quotes, facts and information more suited to a quiz buff. Two women change his world: Kelly at work and his pushy daughter Shelly, who forces the family to meet together. The story is far more complicated than that brief outline, very satisfyingly so. American references galore of course, but that did not bother me as the story is strong enough to keep you reading. A thoroughly good read.
