Sister Wendy on Prayer
Full Product Description
Now, in her older age, Sister Wendy is willing to set down some of what she has learnt over a lifetime in a series of meditations. The format of the book is deliberately non-linear: where prayer is concerned, Sister Wendy says, it is simply a matter of trying to turn to God as honestly as the person you are in the circumstances you find yourself in.
Her co-author, David Willcock, who has worked with Sister Wendy for many years producing her television programmes, adds to her text a biographical sketch about being a nun and at the same time one of the art world's most acute and revered commentators and a TV personality.
Illustrating this unique book are a dozen pieces of artwork: no book by Sister Wendy would be complete without this dimension.
Sister Wendy on Prayer by Sister Wendy Beckett was published by Continuum in September 2007 and is our 19365th best seller. The ISBN for Sister Wendy on Prayer is 9780826483898.

Sister Wendy on PrayerIan Gibson, via The Good Book Stall
First published in hardback, 2006.
We all know of Sister Wendy through her famous programmes on television about art. This book, colourful and readable as you would expect from her, is based on her profound experience of God through prayer. It tells of her intimate relationship with God, on the very focus of her presence on the centrality of prayer in her life. Prayer she says is “God’s business first and foremost”, deceptively simple in her explanation yet exceptionally profound as well. Her life as a religious is dedicated to God and this book as well as being good to own, also gives us methods of praying, why we pray, common sense prayer, everyday prayer and all the necessary guidance we may need as beginners or experienced in the spiritual life. It also gives us guidance on how we can further the prayer life we may already have. It is a wonderful gift book with a superb presentation as well as many colour plates, around which Sister Wendy explains her methods of prayer and contemplation. A lovely gift for a confirmation or ordination – well worth the investment.
