Reflecting The Glory
Full Product Description
New Testament scholar Tom Wright explores passages from the New Testament, with a passionate obsession for Corinthians, to help you walk closer to Jesus through the Lent period. In his usual readable and descriptive way Tom breaks each chapter into the five weeks allowing for a deeper reflect process throughout the Lent journey.
Beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on the first Sunday of Easter, 'Reflecting the Glory' encourages reader to truly get to grips with the resurrection. It's only in reading, pondering, exploring and living the story of God incarnate that we too can make an impact on the world as Christ did.
Discover the Easter story afresh and be inspired to reveal Jesus with this timely and scripture-fuelled lent devotional.
Taken from the Preface:
"Throughout Christian history, saints and sinners, scholars and simple folk alike have found that spending time pondering the great passages in the New Testament not only informs them about what people thought and said in the past but challenges them and transforms them at the deepest level in the present. This is because, in ways that are easy to experience but hard to describe clearly, these writings have a habit of drawing their readers right into the story, so that those who spend time with them find themselves in the mysterious but powerful presence of Jesus himself."
Reflecting The Glory by Tom Wright was published by Bible Reading Fellowship in November 1997 and is our 2929th best seller. The ISBN for Reflecting The Glory is 9780745935560.

BRF's Lent Book for 2015 is not a new book, but it is a welcome reprint of one of Tom Wright's books from 1997, with a new preface attached in which he comments on how the themes he reflected on in this early book so clearly are seen in his subsequent works, as such this will be a welcome read to all those who have enjoyed his recent works and may not have encountered this particular one before.
In style The first four weeks of material look at passages from the Epistles, though the last two days use material from Revelations. In the following two weeks he then reflects on the teachings in Johns gospel, before turning back on Easter Day and through the following week to Paul’s writings in 1 Corinthians.

'You can't love an abstraction. You can't even love the idea of love. You can only truly love a person. The deepest, richest meaning of love must be personal love. The relevance of knowing God in Jesus is that when we love God in Jesus we discover how that love, that personal love, is given to us in order that it may be given through us.'
This book of Bible readings and reflections, for every day from Ash Wednesday to the first Sunday of Easter, explores how we reveal Jesus even at the lowest and weakest points of our lives. Drawing on New Testament passages, with a particular focus on Paul's letters to the church in Corinth, Tom Wright shows that through God's Holy Spirit, the suffering but also the glory of Christ can be incarnate in our lives, enabling us to be the people of God for the world.
