Pope FrancisMelanie Carroll, via The Good Book Stall
This authorised biography of Pope Francis is not a new book, indeed it was written and published in 2010 and other than a short publisher's note informing us of this and how Jorge Berglio is now Pope Francis it remains exactly as it was written, and it is perfect for this reason. Here is not a fancy authorised biography that waxes lyrical but instead a collection of conversations, interviews, memories and recollections of a man who is now Pope but was before that a Jesuit and a man with real history, insight and intent - and here we catch just a glimmer of it. The book is not overly long and is certainly not arduous to read, either straight through for a thorough reading or due to its style of question and answer something that can be picked up and flicked through for an overview of understanding Pope Francis' theology and ideology of purpose, his psychology and understanding of faith. This is a book that opens the door just a little on the man that is now Pope and does it in a simple and open manner. A very enjoyable book indeed.

Elected in one of the shortest conclaves in history, Pope Francis (formerly Archbishop Bergoglio of Argentina) is portrayed as a learned and introspective man, not afraid to discuss highly-charged topics.
The book offers an inside peek into the Pope’s personal life and discusses the extraordinary role he played in the last conclave where he is said to have been tied with Joseph Ratzinger.
Also included are some of the Pope’s own writings, full of wisdom and inspiration.
