Full Product Description
Introduced by Thabiti Anyabwile. If you are looking for understanding on repentance then turn to one of the classic passages in the Old Testament, Psalm 51. This Psalm takes us back in the life of David to when he committed adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba. This sordid story is the backdrop to a moving study that gives readers a fuller understanding of the vital importance of repentance for Christians and non-Christian. Out of the Depths details the sinner's confession, helplessness and a central need. There is good news as Lloyd Jones shows that there is also deliverance and new life. This book, co-published with Bryntirion Press, will be a help to you if you are an earnest seeker after God who wants to take that first step on the road to salvation, and for the troubled Christian desiring to once again find the path to a restored relationship with God.

Out of the Depths: Psalm 51Martin Robinson, via The Good Book Stall
Originally published 1995 with Bryntirion Press.
This book is a collection of a series of four sermons preached by Martyn Lloyd-Jones on Psalm 51. The ability of Lloyd-Jones to be both evangelistic and doctrinal shines through in these sermons which are a model of deep and profound theology presented in such a way that both the seeker and the existing Christian listening to these sermons would have been challenged. Lloyd-Jones focuses on identifying experiences which are common to all regenerate Christians, such as an awakening to sin, a realisation of the need for forgiveness, the need for rebirth and a new nature, and a passion to make God’s glory known to others. These experiences would have presented a clear gospel challenge to conversion to the unconverted listeners Lloyd-Jones was addressing but would have also called forth fresh commitment from Christians who had lost a clear vision for the goals of growth in holiness and in witness.
This book would benefit readers in a number of ways. For the preacher, there is much here to learn by way of constructing sermons that are both profound but also accessible to different listeners. The language and style would need to be adjusted for the contemporary sermon, but the careful and rigorous way in which Lloyd Jones expounds theological terms and then applies them to both heart and mind is exemplary for all preachers at all times. For Christians who wish to understand the place of the doctrine of regeneration in encouraging further growth in holiness and passion for God’s glory, this is a great place to start.
