Have you ever wanted an excuse to sit and engage in an activity which will give you a relaxing, invigorating, meaningful spiritual exercise?
If so, then these books are for you! Mary Fleeson, known to many for her spiritual artistic work in the Celtic tradition from the Lindisfarne Scriptorium, invites you to use the black and white outlines she has provided and colour your own meditations. Some are original works for the book, others are the outlines of her own previous work and some are fragments or details from them. She suggests water-colour crayons/pencils, or felt tips, though you might like to try water colours themselves. Even ‘Multicoloured Contemplations’, the smallest book provides 16 exercises, ranging from Celtic Crosses to knot work to pages covered with script. These are colouring books for the adult with a deeply spiritual purpose. I look forward to using them myself.
‘Tapestry Threads’ is rather different in that it provides 300 stickers created from Life Journey (see separate review) to use in journals and copyright is also waived for use in Church or organisation activities as long as they are not photocopied or posted to websites. The pages of stickers are interleaved with images and meditations from Holy Island. All these are highly recommended.
