The Last Week
Full Product Description
Two of todays leading experts on Jesus, Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan, offer what they believe is the real story of Jesuss final week in Jerusalem. Using the Gospel of Mark as their guide, they present a day-by-day account of Holy Week - the most sacred time of the Christian year.
The Last Week reveals a radical and little-known Jesus who gave up his life to protest against power without justice and to condemn the oppression of the poor by the rich. Indeed, the Jesus uncovered here is far more dangerous than the one enshrined in the churchs traditional teachings. In The Last Week we do not simply meet the Jesus of history but a passionate and engaging Jesus who invites us to follow him today.
The Last Week by Marcus J Borg was published by SPCK in January 2008 and is our 21008th best seller. The ISBN for The Last Week is 9780281059836.

The Last WeekJohn Irvine, via The Good Book Stall
This is a very timely book as Easter approaches. Its subtitle is “What the Gospels Really Teach Us about Jesus’ Final Days”: the operative word is “really” because the authors offer an original and challenging view of the meaning of these final seven days. Using the Gospel of Mark, the authors give a detailed account of every action of Jesus and a close examination of every word he spoke. The result is a fresh and at times controversial appraisal of familiar stories. They see Jesus in the context of the imperial might of Rome and the collaborative domination by the high priests and the council. Jesus appears as a radical voice against injustice and the oppression of the poor and dispossessed. The whole is a plausibly argued reappraisal of the most important week in the Christian calendar.
