The Hidden Tradition of the Kingdom of GodIan Gibbs, via The Good Book Stall
A number of books have been written which have tried to ‘re-discover’ or ‘uncover’ the lost tradition of the kingdom of God. Few can have so boldly identified this ‘hidden’ tradition with the Jerusalem Temple and its cult. Although closely argued with profuse illustrations from the Pseudepigrapha as well as scripture, the books argument is hard to accept. Much is made of such texts as 1Enoch; and Revelation is quoted more often than any of the Gospels. Clearly the Temple was very important to the early Christians, but not that important. No mention is made of the Shiloh period either, when the central elements of the cult had sunk into relative obscurity. This is book to handle with care.
