Healing Through DeliveranceJohn Thomas, via The Good Book Stall
Originally published in 1991, this is a Revised and Expanded Edition
Many churches have healing ministries, and there are Christian healing guilds, etc. – but few acknowledge, or realise, that healing needs deliverance, i.e. Spiritual warfare and the spiritual cleansing of people (and places). This edition of Horrobin’s work puts previously-published volumes into one very large book, which is based on the author’s experience as the founder of Ellel Ministries, first at Ellel Grange, Lancashire, and now present in eleven or so countries. The text begins with physical and emotional sickness, and then proceeds through a detailed account of the Christian understanding of spiritual reality, the nature of evil (and demons), Jesus’s experience (a detailed Biblical exposition), Christian demonisation (a disputed area, for some), symptoms of demonic presence, demonic entry points (115 pages), and – finally – the actual ministry of deliverance itself. A smallish fourth part refers to the cleansing of land and buildings (an area meriting larger treatment, perhaps). Useful Appendixes explain occult terminology and practices, alternative (New Age) medical practices, and non-Christian religions. While some deliverance ministers find an exaggerated emphasis on demonic presence, in Horrobin’s work, there is surely no fuller account of this vital area of Christian concern available today.
