Facing our enemies (1 John 2:15-29) a talk by Simon Downham
Full Product Description
John gives us his purpose in writing this letter. 'To make our joy complete.'(1:4) 'So that you will not sin.' (2:1) 'That you may know that you have eternal life.' (5:13). There is a strong emphasis in the epistle between genuine spirituality based on truth, with positive ethical results, and false spirituality based on error in belief leading to a lifestyle dishonouring to God.
There are so many practical aspects of genuine and false spirituality for us to explore in this epistle. Even in the false teaching that John is exposing there are practical applications for us today. In John's understanding, to be a Christian is to 'know him', to 'be in him', to be 'of God', and to 'have passed from death to life'. This is the reality of Christ-centred spirituality! Session 3/7
