    Product Description

All the readings are linked to the Bible, and that link is indicated by the Bible reference at the head of each poem or prayer. There is a Bible index at the end of the book for easy reference.

Electricity is an amazing power which enables us to live our lives in the complex modern world. It provides us with light, heat and energy, and makes possible industry, transport, commerce and communication on a vast scale; and any power cut immediately reminds us how much we depend upon it. But electricity can also be dangerous and shocking, and we need to approach it with due respect.

These poems and prayers were written for use in public worship, in order to let the story of Jesus (in the setting of the whole Bible), which we hear read week after week in church, break through the barrier of familiarity and flood our own lives with its searching light. Some poems are gentle and some are harsh; some are mildly humorous and some are not; but all are intended to be taken seriously and to stimulate thought and emotion, and maybe even action....

Above all, the poems are meant to be enjoyable and stimulating and, like electric switches, to give access to a power which is far greater than the poems themselves.
