The Deeper CentreJ.Nicholas Latham, via The Good Book Stall
'I grow beyond myself...' (from the 'Epilogue', p. 146). While spoken by a tree, this reflects Sister Eva's life. She encourages us to recognise and accept the gifts God gives us, and through events, sometimes not pleasant, to change, so developing our personalities and faith. Her reflections are based round a loose autobiography, people she has met and situations in which she has found herself. These include the wonder of a Christmas tree in a nominally Jewish European household, her family becoming pre-War refugees in England, her education, conversion to Catholicism, joining the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, being a Headmistress, and latterly, her ministry to those put to the edge as well as a a spiritual guide. She writes well, and being a true member of her Society, is practical, sensitive and not at all 'pie' in the way she shares her faith. It is hoped that this will not be Sister Eva's first and only book.
