Bible Reading - Spurring each other to love and good works Heb 10:19-39 is a Ivor Poobalan talk recorded at Keswick Convention - 2017 on Bible Interpretation available as DVD format.
The Reformation that began in 1517 served the churches in Europe by restoring their faith in the supremacy of Jesus Christ, demonstrated by convictions about the authority of scripture, the sufficiency of Grace, and the necessity of Faith. Five hundred years on, biblical Christianity is in danger of 'drifting away' in the face of intense secularisation and the consequent weakening of Christian beliefs and lifestyle. Ivor Poobalan explores Hebrews over five sessions, helping us discover how its writer addressed a community of Jewish Christians facing similar challenges. They, who had at one time been fervent believers, were losing their confidence in the absolute claims of Jesus. The persistent unbelief of the society in which they were immersed made their Christian convictions seem foolish. Many had dropped out or had become quiet about their faith. What then did Hebrews present as the seeds for their reformation?
