Head in the Clouds
Full Product Description
When Gideon Westcott left his privileged life in England to make a name for himself in America's wool industry, he never expected to become a father overnight. Gideons five-year-old Isabella hasn't uttered a word since she lost her mother. The irregularity of the new governess concerns Gideon and intrigues him at the same time. But he can't afford distractions. He has a ranch to run, a shearing to oversee, and a suspicious fence-cutting to investigate.
When Isabella's uncle comes to claim her and her inheritance, Gideon and Adelaide must work together to protect Isabella from the man's evil schemes. And soon neither can deny their growing attraction. But after so many heartbreaks, will Adelaide be willing to get her head out of the clouds and put her heart on the line?

Head in the CloudsMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
The incident on the front cover drew my attention and as soon as I turned the book over – a glimpse of what happened next!
The description on the back cover starts with ‘When a recovering romantic goes to work for a handsome ranch owner, her heart’s not the only thing in danger’. No indeed!
Adelaide Proctor was raised by her father on a horse ranch but when he died all she is left with as a reminder of her father’s love, is her horse Sheba who she has kept with her through the years of living with her Aunt, her training to be a teacher and her two years teaching at Cisco, Texas. She longs to be part of a family and find a hero as Jane Eyre does in her favourite novel. Her first ‘hero’ turns out to be nothing of the sort and she realises that she needs to ‘wait on God’ not rush off on a whim. How she finds herself governess to a traumatised motherless little girl and what happens then, will keep you reading to the small hours if you are anything like me.
