In "Gods Behaving Badly," Pete Ward analyses celebrity culture from the point of view of Christian theology. He explores the relationship that Christian theology has with this cultural phenomenon and discusses how Christian theologians can positively engage with it.

Ward emphasises the term "theological capital" throughout the book and explains how and why Christian theologians should engage with celebrity culture as theological capital; Ultimately, celebrity culture can be considered as a theological resource. The book closes with the prospect that theologising can be related to issues of missiology by applying ideas like incultration and accultration.
