In 2011, Olive Tree Media commissioned social researchers, McCrindle Research to look into the religious and spiritual beliefs of modern Australians, and specifically what issues turned them off Christian faith and the Church. The research clarified the belief blockers – the reasons many people have lost confidence in the Church and its message.

This research formulated the topics of each of the episodes for Towards Belief. The resulting research, published as the Australian Communities Report is available for purchase from the online shop.

Towards Belief features interviews with over 30 leading Christian academics, leaders, authors and apologists from the UK, USA and Australia.

Karl Faase is CEO of Olive Tree Media, an Australian-based media organisation which produces DVD and television series for Christian media and church use. Karl is also Senior Pastor of Gymea Baptist Church, a large contemporary church in the southern suburbs of Sydney. Karl is a highly regarded interviewer and host, with a friendly yet probing style. He has hosted The Men's Series, The Family Series plus numerous television specials.

Like his previous series Jesus the Game Changer Karl travels the world interviewing well respected people in there field and asking the questions we might want to ask or shedding light on our experiences. These series are like no other I have found and stimulate small groups to consider Christian truths in a different and challenging way. I ended up have far greater insight as did our group. Also the videos are well edited and professionally presented. If you're reading this please give them a try. You will not regret it.

Ideal for a discussion group, some café churches, etc. The timing of 28 minutes for each one is ideal. The speakers are clear in speech the a good range of presentation approaches. I have only looked at two in any depth and in the main the language used and depth of material is good. Just slightly disappointed that the full range of theological views and thinking is not always expressed or an interpretation of a passage of scripture is not, to my mind, explained sufficiently or backed up with a logical argument on all occasions.
