Explains Anthony deMello's unique spiritual journey

You will discover a deeper understanding of God

This biography reveals the inspiring life of Anthony deMello.
Anthony deMello, an Indian Jesuit who died in 1987, was among the most popular and influential spiritual teachers of our time. Through his books and retreats he achieved a world-wide following that has only continued to grow in recent years. But who was Anthony deMello? What were the sources that nourished his own spiritual development? In this book, Bill deMello, Tony's younger brother, provides an honest and intimate portrait. Beginning with his early life in India and his formation as a Jesuit, we follow deMello's gradual refinement of a new approach to Christian spirituality that integrated eastern and western sources. While acknowledging that his own appreciation of Tony's message began only after his death, Bill manages to convey that message - an invitation to awaken to the experience of God in daily life - and the impact it has had on countless people. For all who have treasured Anthony's deMello's works, this long-awaited biography will be a great gift.

    Average rating of0.0

Anthony deMello was an Indian Jesuit who was one of the most popular and influential Jesuit teachers of the twentieth century. His sudden, early death in 1987 came as a great shock to all who appreciated his intellect and warm personality. Through his books and retreats he achieved a world-wide following and was instrumental in deepening the spiritual lives of thousands in the Roman Catholic community. Born in India in 1931, deMello decided at an early age to become a Jesuit, a decision that initially caused much anguish to his family, and became a novitiate of the Order in 1947. In his biography, his brother Bill, describes Anthony's journey, his life as a novitiate and his formation as a fully ordained Jesuit priest. Through his own spiritual journey deMello recognised, and effectively expounded and demonstrated, the essentials of an awakening to the experience of God in daily life. As a result his life and teaching have been an inspiration to many people around the world. It's an inspiring story, a little hard going at times, but an uplifting example of what a person can achieve when committed to following the way of God's leading.
