"Remember Jesus Christ." (2 Timothy 2:8)
This short sentence was part of Paul's efforts to persuade young Timothy of the importance of building a strong foundation on the knowledge of Jesus Christ for his life and ministry. Paul's spiritual son and apostolic delegate was in danger of displacing Jesus from the center of his preaching and, in doing that, falling into his time's theological trends that carried many disciples to confusion and false doctrine.
Today, we too are in danger of removing Jesus from the center of our lives, service, and preaching. The era we live in is no different from the Greco-Roman world of the first century. When nearly one in three American evangelicals believe that Jesus Christ was a great teacher -but not God, we have a pressing problem that needs to be addressed. Therefore, we must take this warning seriously and return to a biblical and one hundred percent Christ-centered faith.
This book presents the doctrine of Jesus Christ, also called Christology, in a simple and precise approach to help the reader undertake a journey through the pages of the Bible by facilitating the understanding of the person and work of Jesus Christ. The book presents to the reader with simple answers to the most critical questions regarding the person of Christ:
- Why is it necessary to biblically know the person of Jesus Christ?
- Is Jesus the central theme of Scripture?
- What is the relevance of Jesus' names and titles?
- Why is it important to clearly understand Jesus' divine and human natures and the union of both in his person?
- Why are the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord significant events to our faith?
- What is the meaning of Jesus' ascension to Heaven?
- What is Jesus' ministry in Heaven in this present time?
- Among other topics.
This edition includes a study guide at the end of the book that can be used individually and in small groups.
My desire for you, dear reader, is to enjoy the experience of knowing Jesus as Man and God. I invite you to walk the way between the cross and the tomb. Look at Heaven, recognize his throne and sovereignty and, by doing so, renew your faith so that in your life, Jesus will always be the center.
