INTRODUCTION Aphrodisiacs are the substances or drugs poignant sexual desire or the gist which excite libido and sexual activity (Cowie 1989 and Mnimh 1996). Now a-days infertility is one of the serious problems in the world. This problem can be trounce by the use of herbs known as aphrodisiac herbs .Herbal rnedicines have been used for thousands of years to improve the health of individuals. Large number of herbal products are available in the market and used as aphrodisiac for strength, potency, vigor and vitality. Near about 27 aphrodisiac drugs are listed such as Withania somnifera, Asparagus racemosLts, A. asendense, Curculigo orchioides and Chlorophytum borivilianun. However rest of plants requires more scientific efforts to establish them as potential aphrodisiac plants. Hence there is need to acquire knowledge about aphrodisiac from plants. Aphrodisiac play imporlant role in enhancing sexual health especially those who are suffering from sexual problems (Ramawat, et al., 1998). India is one of the richest countries in medicinal plants' diversity and is also an herbal treasure from old ages. The appropriate herbal extracts can be useful in achieving longer lasting erection, female lubrication and more intense orgasm resulting in more satisfactory sex. Food also considered as an aphrodisiac in Ayurveda because it nourishes the reproductive fluids and promote vigor .Thus "Aphrodisiacs are the substances which can be ingested , applied topically , smoked snored or delivered into body to improve sex potentials which may be derived from plants ,animals and minerals (Davis, 1985;Rosen and Ashton,1993; Guay, et a1.,2003). Most aphrodisiacs also have other aspects of sensory experiences such as light, touch, smell, taste and hearing which improved sensory awareness and contributed to sexual provocation and pleasure (Tabener ,1985;Yakubt, et a|.,2007). Different kinds of substances are used as aphrodisiacs from ancient tinre (Puri, 1971). Oats have aphrodisiac properties and used in improvement of male sexual dysfunction (Farnaworth and Cordell, 1976). Boiled testicles of ram or goat with milk and sugar before consumption are considered as best aphrodisiacs (Davis, 1985).In England, plants e.g. Asparagr.rs, parsnips and carrots are used as aphrodisiacs. Ukrainians use carrots and celery as folk aphrodisiac and ginseng, Rhinoceros horn and Spanish fly which is actually toxic also, used as aphrodisiac by Chinese (Basry,1989 and Evans, 1996) ).
