At the start of the introduction Ian Black writes ‘This book could be subtitled Praying with the Bible because that is what it invites you to do. Each set of intercessions is based on the Bible readings set for the Sundays and Principal Holy Days of the Churches year. These follow the three-year Revised Common Lectionary as ordered for the Church of England.
With a bidding and response for each set of intercessions even the most diffident intercessor should find the confidence to lead the prayers. Those with more confidence can use the suggested words as a starting point for their own words, there is plenty of opportunity to make them your own. This is a companion volume to the author’s Imtercessions for the Calendar of saints and Holy days
