Prayers to the Holy Cross of Jerusalem is born from the contemplation of the Cross on which Christ was crucified: the Holy Cross of Calvary, the axis of the history of salvation. In it meet justice and mercy, the sin of man and the boundless love of God. Jerusalem thus becomes the place where Adam's disobedience is repaired by the perfect obedience of the New Adam, "obedient unto death, even death on a cross."
Christian tradition has always seen this Cross as the tree of life. The Fathers of the Church taught that, just as through a tree death entered the world, through the Cross eternal life springs forth. From this mystery is born a silent and profound devotion, centered not on the wood, but on Christ crucified, who offers His life for the redemption of all.
This book proposes a path of prayer rooted in that devotion: a collection of prayers inspired by Sacred Scripture, a novena to meditate on the Holy Cross and the Crucifixion, traditional images, and spaces to note intentions and personal reflections. A simple and reverent instrument to accompany daily prayer and to go deeper into the mystery of Calvary.
