I put down my coffee cup and attempt to give you an honest answer. What follows is what I would try to say in order to convey some comfort, support and hope."

John Lennox is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Said Business School and an Adjunct Lecturer for The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He has been part of numerous public debates defending the Christian faith against well known atheists including Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Peter Singer.

    This is an excellent read, that only takes a couple of hours, on where God is during the pandemic, very encouraging.

    I enjoyed reading the book an for a Christian felt it put the virus into context, but didn't really feel it gave a definitive answer to be able to use when non-Christians ask this question

    An easy-to-read little book but just what I needed to read at this time. I found it a real comfort to hear what the author was saying and it would be a good book for both Christians and non-Christians to read. There is so much anxiety around and secular news stories can make us confused and depressed. The author doesn't sugar-coat pain and suffering but gives us hope throughout it. Another book I read recently was "The Red Sea Rules" by Robert J Morgan. Another small book but packed with Bible-based help for difficult times. Highly recommend both books.

    Overall a brilliant summary in as much of an answer we could expect from such a question. It is the eternal question of "WHY?" but John Lennox puts The pandemic & previous calamities into perspective & historical context, then eases gently over to the real & only answer -ie Absolute trust in God's justice but also in His utmost involvement with the problem of Sin thro the gracious & wonderful sacrifice of Jesus. Then leading to the need for each of us to reach out to hHm & trust him above everything & in all circumstances. Jon Lennox puts together an succinct, yet not "PAT" answer - all the more amazing in the short time to produce it.

    Clear and readable book giving helpful historical background to pandemics, Biblical perspective on the problem of evil and concluding with hopeful thinking in this crisis time. It left me feeling more peaceful than when I picked it up!
