Sown in Light

Told from the point of view of a young, black girl who grew up in a conservative Christian home, Sown in Light is a snapshot of the struggle of growing up n a religious household.

To truly express this work, the book is divided into 3 parts: Planting Seeds, Pulling Weeds, and Producing Petals. These sections describe the nurturing in her youth, the struggle in her heart, and the blooming of her faith. It is heartwarming in its authenticity and captivating in its transparency. It is a book for this generation and all the ones to come.

A confessional of a different kind. Through poetry, Tekira lays bare her upbringing in the black church, her struggles with God, and the reconciliation of her faith.
