I’ve come to believe that there are no coincidences when God is involved. Life is actually a well-orchestrated series of beautiful possibilities. As we partner with God’s heart, He connects all the dots so that His perfect will is accomplished. I was just one dot in this beautiful story of redemption and restoration.

On January 12, 2010 at 4:53 p.m., a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit the island of Hispaniola near Leogane, about 16 miles west of the capital city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I could never have imagined that a natural disaster over 1600 miles away would forever change my life. This is a story of two lives intersecting in the most serendipitous way to become the answer to each other’s prayers. As I prayed and cried out to God asking if there was anything I could do to somehow help in the suffering of the Haitian people, Shultz was praying and crying out to God to rescue him out of the chaos and devastation that was now his life. I became the answer to his prayers, and he became the answer to mine.

This is a story of the power of prayer and what God can do with our simple yes.
