    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

In this year of remembering the work done by William Wilberforce and many others to abolish the Trans Atlantic slave trade, DLT have re-published this excellent biography by Garth Lean. Drawing heavily on the more detailed work of John Pollock and others, he has written a very readable book that throws light on the historical setting of the struggles and the many personalities involved. William Wilberforce was a dynamic little man, not physically strong but with a charisma that held listeners enthralled whether they approved of what he was saying or no! Despite giving his main attention to the abolition of the slave trade, he had many other philanthropic causes to support and yet found time to meet and socialise with his friends. Through all this his strong Christian faith was the major influence in all he did, and England became a better place to live as a direct result of this man and his associates.
