The resurrection of Jesus was the most important event in the history of mankind. The resurrection is an historical fact, but it is not the fact of the resurrection that this work is about. Rather, it is the importance that this historical event has and the purpose of the resurrection that is being explored here. Among evangelical believers today the crucifixion of Jesus seems to garner the most attention. But to the early believers it was the resurrection that was important. In Roman times there were many people who were crucified, but only one of them is still alive today. The resurrection was so important to the early church that they would gather together on the first day of every week to celebrate it. In Revelation 1:10 it is called "the Lord's day." (See also Acts 20:7.) So, without diminishing the importance of the crucifixion, let us explore "The Power of the Resurrection".
