The internationally respected and loved psychologist, author and humourist Dr. Kevin Leman has a not-so-secret confession: he was turned down by 160 colleges! Yet he went on to become a professor of psychology and has released 42 books, the latest of which he's named ‘The Way of the Wise’.
The ex-janitor (as he reveals in the first chapter) has plucked ten quotes from King Solomon (book of Proverbs), taken from the first six verses of the third chapter. In essence this is a self-help Bible study, a spiritual journey through one of the most profound, yet simple chapters of the Old Testament. He talks mainly about recognizing the ‘teachable moments’ in your life, and recreating them in other people’s lives. I must also mention the audiobook, which captures his wisdom and humour to near perfection.
This book is classic Leman – quirky, made-up words with light-hearted stories and plenty of easy-to-digest nuggets of scriptural wisdom. There are no falsehoods with Kevin, he seems to ooze genuineness, honesty and love. He comes across on camera as a loving husband and a loving parent and a fun loving guy... and when you read one of his books you get the same man (plus the added wisdom of a respected family counsellor and trained Christian psychologist).
