The alarm goes off. You blearily press snooze. It goes off again, you get up and shuffle to the kitchen. Scroll through social media as you wait for the kettle to boil. Pour yourself a cup of coffee. You get dressed and prepare yourself for the commute/
Ok, so this does sound like a much drearier version of Dolly Parton’s 1980 hit. But for many the day-to-day humdrum has left them asking the question, is there more to life than this?
Hillsong certainly believe so.
This year they are focussing in on three words: There. Is. More.
Recognising that people feel like they’re living with a question mark over their lives and are pondering their potential within the promises of God. They’re equipping the nation to believe in more.
The passionate declaration, There Is More is spurned from Ephesians 3:20-21 (MSG):
“God can do anything, you know—far MORE than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!”
It’s a mission that the whole Hillsong team are getting involved with.
First of all pastor, Brian Houston releases his new book, titled, you guessed it: There Is More. In his new inspirational title he shares how, with God’s power, you can believe and achieve a life that exceeds every earthly expectation. He urges the reader to surrender control and follow God’s guidance, in order to become empowered and equipped to do the impossible, reach higher and go further - giving him all the glory.
Secondly, Hillsong Worship enters the fray with their 26th live praise and worship album.
There is More is a triumphant shout of striving for more in life, and more from God. It goes right back to Jacob wrestling with God, in the book of Genesis, a life-changing encounter championed throughout the album. As worship leader, Brooke Ligertwood puts it:
“There is More of God and more to God and His love than we can possibly conceive of.”
Finally, the high energy, international Hillsong conference returns. Hosted by Global senior pastors, Brian and Bobbie Houston. The conference covers three locations:
Sydney (10-13th July)
London (25-27th July)
New York (1st-3rd August)
The conference website declares:
“Hillsong Conference is all about championing the cause of THE Church of Jesus Christ — across every nation, denomination, age and background.”
Bringing together guest speakers including Steven Furtick, Carl Lentz, Chris Hodges and John Gray alongside stadium-filling worship, the vision for this year’s conference is that society and generations will see God’s pure and grace-laden fullness through a united, fired up Church.
Tickets are available now.
