What is Holy?
What does Holiness mean today?
How you answer those questions may not be how Rob Bell answers them. And that’s not because every generation births its own contrarian. Though many would certainly place Rob Bell in that role, the alternative perspectives and radical rethinking that flare up sirens of “heresy” in the minds of many actually offer a checks-and-balances approach the handed-downess of Christianity. Rob Bell doesn’t challenge what God looks like, only the abilities of our eyes to perceive Him without obstruction.
And in the Holy Shift tour, he challenges our impression of holiness. Reclaiming it from lofty unattainableness, he shows holiness as a reorientation and practice. Drawing on depths of what holy has meant in the lives and minds of writers, theologians, philosophers and thinkers, Rob Bell shows holiness for human attainment.
He wants people to not only shift their understanding of what is holy, but also shift their lives towards true holiness. One neither lofty or exclusive, but for all.
