Oprah 'to star' in film of The Shack

It was reported by Christian Retailing (7 May) that Hollywood hasplans for the best-selling novel The Shack (Windblown Media/Hachette Book Group) to hit the big screen.

Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker will direct The Shack adaptation, which will reportedly star Oprah Winfrey and British actor Idris Elba.

The Shack, written by William P Young has become one of the bestselling Christian novels since its publication in 2007, ever with over 18 million copiers sold worldwide. It has also attracted a great deal of opposition from some Christians for its portrayal of God as an African American woman.
