Quite literally never to be repeated, Gaither Homecoming Celebration is the only chance you’ll ever get to be there at this classic gathering of these Gaither revival greats live and all on one stage.

Never to be repeated night: one last epic concert

This unique collection of never before seen performances brings together solo, ensemble and instrumental artists from the golden age of gospel revival music. Recorded live in the vibrant atmosphere of the Charlotte Coliseum, North Carolina, Gaither Homecoming ‘Celebration’ gathers together some of Gaither Music’s most loved singers and musicians for one last epic concert.

Rediscovered after more than 20 years in the Gaither Music archive, this one-of-kind live recording captures for ever the voices and faces of gospel giants from the great age of full-spirit revival music. Heart and soul performances from names you’ve always known come alive with such presence and energy it’s hard to believe so many are no longer with us.

Never to be repeated renditions of gospel standards ring out from voices seasoned by the years. Great, great songs from Jake Hess, Howard and Vestal Goodman remind you what live performing is all about. Emotional trumpet and song from Bob Cain and vision-blurring finger action from pianist Anthony Burger make leave an impression of the DVD audience as great as when they performed live in 1998.

Jessy Dixon: sheer joy in performing and praising God

With his physical and spiritual energy, ‘Homecoming Celebration’ is worth buying just for Jessy Dixon’s sheer joy in performing and praising God. In a classic cut mustard suit, this veteran gospel singer/songwriter shows how to woe and win an audience and really show them a good time. The most recent of the Homecoming Celebration’ stars to pass away, you can’t help wondering how the heavenly choir will keep up with him.

The live concert is complemented with classic interviews and vintage clips featuring the Gaither artists no longer with us. Jake Hess tells of his early ambition to simply to sing in a gospel quartet, while sensitive tributes from Bill Gaither himself acknowledge the lifetime contributions of Jake Hess, Howard and Vestal, Bob Cain and Anthony Burger.

This whole 90 minute DVD is truly a celebration and fitting tribute to so many lives and so much talent dedicated to praise God in heaven and lifting hearts on earth. With spirited contributions from younger ‘Homecoming’ stars including The Martins, Carman and Candy Christmas the powerful gospel emotions never let up.

Lifelong joy and passion: lifting heart and soul to God

As light relief before the spectacular explosive finale, there’s witty banter with members of the Gaither Vocal Band, a wink at Bill’s ‘senior status’ and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the after show party in the late Howard Goodman’s tour-bus. It’s America so don’t be surprised at the lack of salad.

Gaither Music’s ‘Homecoming Celebration’ is a classic of its time and a unique gathering of classic gospel singers and musicians no longer with us. This is not just one for the collectors but also for those with the knowledge, experience and love of the revival music’s golden era. For those who love to see and hear the lifelong joy and passion of men and women lifting heart and soul to God, here’s a preview of what heaven might be like.
