A new book by the author of Operation World, looks at the big issues and trends that are set to impact on the way we live for the next few years.
Patrick Johnstone, 73, the author of numerous editions of the award-winning prayer guide Operation World, has written The Future of the Global Church to address some of the key issues and trends that are already being faced around the world.
Johnstone, a former missionary with WEC International, and Operation Mobilisation (OM), brings together history, demographics and religion to paint a picture of the past, present and possible future of the global church.
Drawing on fifty years of experience in Christian work, Johnstone reflects upon issues which affect and impact us all, including considering the contributions of different streams of Christianity to the future shape of the church.
Operation World has long been considered a classic text book by those interested in prayer and overseas mission. Drawing on detailed and methodical research, the book has become a familiar site in mission bases and Bible schools.
Using his own experience as a missionary in Africa, Patrick Johnstone pulled together the facts and figures which form the key pieces of information for anyone looking at getting involved in Christian work overseas.
In his new book Johnstone highlights the world impact of evangelical Christianity over the last 200 years, and notes the astonishing growth of Evangelicalism over the past half century.
With mission first and foremost in his thinking, Johnstone focuses once again on the unfinished task of world evangelization, with a special emphasis on ‘unreached people groups’.
