What's the story behind 'The Star of Christmas'?
As Cavis Appythart and Millward Phelps - a sort of salad bowl Gilbert and Sullivan, Bob and Larry prepare to release their elaborate Christmas blockbuster 'The Princess and the Plumber' on Victorian London's theatre land. Selfish ambition drives then to even greater extravagance when they learn that nearby St Barts church is planning a nativity play on their opening night - featuring the Christmas Star, unseen for decades.
Undone by a disastrous fire caused by their own excesses - and their attempt to steal the Star, Cavis and Millward are thrown into jail. In jail they meet a prisoner, Charles Pincher, who shows them both that Christmas is not about glitz and grand productions. Christmas is all about a baby in a manger - Jesus, and he's the real "Star of Christmas".
